"Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived."

Flashback Friday!

A few of the films from the 1940's that I enjoy watching.

Another one I enjoy is Since You Went Away, which I can't find a trailer for right now. I'll warn you that it is a real tearjerker!

On a personal note, this is going to be my last post for a while. I really do appreciate all of you who read and comment on my blog.

It's this pantsuit, isn't it... your tired of nerds hanging around your place. Hey, no problem. I can find another pic of myself...

I'm just taking a break from blogging for a while. I will still be around reading and commenting on my favorite blogs, though.

His Girl Friday~Yep. It's in public domain (how did THAT happen) and one of our local PBS stations airs it at least once per month.

The Ghost & Mrs. Muir~Totally screwed up my romantic imaginings...I still get all choked up when I think about how perfect they are together.

Mildred Pierce~Ohhh, I need to watch it again. Rosyln Russel in all of her Mommy Dearest glory.

Gaslight~Did you know there was a British version of this?

Rope? I thought I had seen all of his films.

Selfishly speaking, I'm glad you're taking a short break--it'll give me a chance to catch up on my Hairball reading!

I feel the same way as Joe - a break? I just got here!! Seriously, take the time you need.

I love, love, love these movies! You have great taste. I so need to get Netflix....

I've been saving money to buy some new movies for my home collection. My favorite online DVD store has a big sale twice a year, and the next one is in June. I'm currently working on my list of what to buy. Some of these movies will definitely be on my list.

Dr. J,
When you see Rope, please come back and tell me what you thought of the movie. Something that might have gone unnoticed to viewers of an earlier era, is much more obvious to 21st century eyes.

Thanks Tikimama!
I love Netflix as I'm not that interested in most new movie releases, and they have a pretty nice selection of classic movies, TV shows, documentaries, foreign stuff, etc. Here's a link to YouTube's new movie section, where you can watch His Girl Friday. Hopefully they will soon add some more classic movies!

Wha?! I just got here. Came over from 70s Child. Okaaay, I'll read your older posts then. Great - is EVERYONE on a blogging break? By which I mean, you and me both.

I have His Girl Friday on my Netflix list.

Enjoy your break as much as I'm enjoying mine!!

Joe,
As I was telling Marissa earlier today, you are just jealous that the two of us are enjoying cold drinks and foot massages while you are still blogging away. *grins*

joe said...

You got some cold drinks there??? Got enough for the rest of us?

Hairball T. Hairball said...

I'm supposed to be saving them for the vacationing bloggers.
*looks both ways and passes Joe a drink*

Marissa said...

Hey - I SAW that! I hope you didn't give Joe the good stuff.
*slurps my Mai Tai and rocks the hammock vigorously*
